Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Desiree Waters is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is a proud graduate of Northwestern High School and pursued further education at Towson Stafford Business School and Morgan State University. After a fulfilling professional career, Desiree retired in November 2023.
In 2017, Desiree embarked on her most personal and powerful journey: facing cancer not once, but three times. Each diagnosis deeply tested her strength, faith, and resilience, as well as her capacity to love and trust in God. The prayers and support of family, friends, and even strangers became her lifeline through the darkest days.
Desiree’s debut collaborative book, When Cancer Knocks At Your Door, is a heartfelt offering of wisdom, hope, and encouragement for those navigating similar challenges, as well as for caregivers and supporters. This work is not only her story, but her truth, a testimony of perseverance and faith.
At the core of Desiree’s message is one simple truth: a cancer diagnosis, while daunting, does not define your worth or dictate the course of your life. Rather, it can be an opportunity to discover resilience, embrace new beginnings, and uncover sources of strength you never knew existed.
