LaDonna Stanley-Thompson

I am LaDonna Stanley-Thompson affectionately known as Dondon by close family and friends. This sentimental name was given to me by my oldest niece (Andrea) when she was 1 years old and now, she is 40+.

Okay back to me! I was born in Southeast Washington, DC and grew up in the Barry Farms Dwellings. LOL, y’all like the way I make that sound like a gated suburb community huh! Well, that is how it felt being raised by my single mother, me the youngest, and my 4 older siblings Brian, Vincent, Deneane and Gary. It was my home, and I am a product (not a statistic) of this community and very proud of it. Also, I have an older half-sister (Barbara) that we met for the first time at age 12 and she has been the best big sister ever!

I am married to my childhood next-door neighbor, Mr. Anthony Thompson Sr., whom I am very much still in love with, and we have one son, Anthony Thompson Jr., also known as AJ, who is our pride and joy.

I graduated from Ballou High School in 1987, then attended Morgan State University where I majored in Elementary Education, transferred to the University of the District of Columbia in 1990-1992, and I am currently a student at Columbia Southern University, majoring in Organizational Management.  I am also a proud Federal Government Employee of 25 years. Additionally, I am the Co-Founder and Executive Director of my family’s Non-Profit Organization that was started in 2013 in memory of my beautiful mother, the late Martha Stanley. Stanley House of LOVE (SHoLOVE) is an organization that gives back to the community through scholarships, mentorship, community service, honoring public servants annually and a host of other community ventures.

I enjoy the little things in life, like spending time with family and friends, going to church to worship and to fellowship with my Sisters and Brothers in Christ, traveling, dreaming, and believing that anything is possible. Yep, I don’t ask for much!

Finally, I am a first-time author and a first-time cancer survivor.  My God is so good!
